Generally I bring a couple of direct heals, a couple of low cost protection spells, a signet and rebirth.
My PvE bar usually looks like:
[skill]Ethereal Light[/skill][skill]Word of Healing[/skill][skill]Mend Condition[/skill][skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Signet of Rejuvenation[/skill][skill]Smite Hex[/skill][skill]Rebirth[/skill]
Gear:
I suggest as much energy as you can since you shouldn't be getting hit. The reality however does mean you're more than likely to get attacked, so some people swap out a chest piece for more health or armour against stuff.
Tictacs:
Stay at the back, don't heal people until they've taken about 20% of their hp bar, otherwise it'll eat all your energy.
As a monk you're going to have to learn to watch hp bars at the same time as seeing what's going on in the battle, it takes a little getting used.

Here's a few tips:
1) 5 energy heals - You will almost never run out of energy if you cast these. Don't go with 10 point healing like breeze etc. as it'll run you out of energy. I have a 3.3 mill exp monk (no solo exp either), and my main healing is still Orison, Etherial Light, Dwayna's Kiss, and Word of Healing (if I'm going WoH heal).
2) Don't attack - In PvE monster AI is geared to go after squishies who are attacking. If you don't attack the monsters, they won't attack you. You can attack when there is only one monster left, and your tank is holding aggro.
3) Specialize - If you're healing, all your points should go into heal and divine. Don't waste them on prot or your secondary as a healer, unless you have leftover points.
4) If you're being attacked, break aggro. Do this by running away from the monster and AROUND an ally, preferably the tank. The monster will generally start attacking your ally and leave them alone. You do this because your self-heals are inferior to healing others, and tanks can take more damage than you can.
5) You are the lynchpin of success or failure of your party. If necessary, run away and rebirth them later. You can't help your party if you're dead.
Hope this helps.

I pack all minor runes except Major vigor and if I'm healing, then a Servant's headpiece with a Superior Healing rune on it to give me 16 in Healing Prayers.

I usually use WoH, sig of rejuv, kiss, breeze, insp hex, revealed hex, healing touch, and rebirth.
My monk only has 1 mil xp right now, but I've solo healed THK with this build.
And no one died

Unless you're farming, NEVER USE HEALING BREEZE. IT IS NOT GOOD.
How is it so hard for people to understand this :-/

They haven't done the math sno. THEY HAVEN'T DONE THE MATHS!!
Healing Breeze usually means overhealing or underhealing as HB will rarely be enough to save a target taking alot of damage which leads him to dying. OR, you could cast a direct heal on him like WoH two seconds after casting HB, which probably would have been enough in the first place, only now you've wasted 10e on HB.
My PvE bar is Reversal of Fortune, Gift of Health, Mend Condition, Prot Spirit, Inspired Hex, Revealed Hex, Mantra of Recall, Divine Boon. Attributes 15 Divine, 9 Healing, 9 Prot, 9 Inspiration.
Most people will tell you to bring a res on your PvE monk. I prefer to not let people die.

I know most people consider healing breeze well... BAD.
I agree in most cases, but I find it useful for topping off tanks OR I cast it and then Dwayna's Kiss for a strong heal.
I prefer not to use breeze much, only in certain situations.

a much better skill for topping someone off would be sig of devotion. no energy, 5 second recharge. healing breeze is just... well, kinda useless. there are better, more efficient skills for every situation where healing breeze is good.

well the build I use only uses 8 divine favor, so packing that would be a little worthless.
Like I said, I prefer the 2nd use of my breeze, it turns my Kiss into at least a 100 point heal, plus 9 regen.
(I'm trashing the build I use anyway as soon as I buy nightfall, got a nice one planned :P)

If it's the Kiss bonus you seek, Vigorous Spirit > Breeze.
Vigorous Spirit is just an all-around fantastic spell. It heals for a ton over its duration, it's highly spammable, and it gives the Kiss bonus AND and Dismiss Condition bonus.
As w00t posted above, the standard bar for PvE healers includes WoH, OoH, and Kiss, with the rest being a matter of preference/playstyle.
Along with the base three, I include Ethereal Light, Vigorous Spirit, Sig of Rejuvenation (my favorite warrior heal), Dismiss Condition (now the best condition remover in the game IMO), and Rebirth.
On a sad note, however, the future of PvE monking (Glimmer of Light) was immediately nerfed upon the release of Nightfall.
Until Glimmer returns to its former glory (1 second recharge), WoH will remain the PvE elite of choice.
